ST. FRANCIS STATUE RESTORATION
 

Rohn artists recently had the honor of restoring this beautiful 100-year-old St. Francis of Assisi statue for a private client. This 5’ tall plaster statue was one of a set fabricated by the now-defunct legendary Daprato Studios of northern Italy. Many can’t see beyond the faded and chipped paint but our artists were able to envision the statue as it was meant to be, transforming the aging exterior with love and dedication. We first stripped the old paint and finishes before repairing damage to the plaster and applying a base coat. Color was then carefully added with oil paints to enliven St. Francis’ solemn expression, while gold leaf highlights restore the patron saint of animals’ regal nature. The project was completed with a protective sealant, with the whole process taking one week.
