THE PIETA AND REREDOS RESTORATION
 

The extensive renovation of St. Agnes Cathedral included the restoration of a precious image of the Pieta. The original wood sculpture had several deep cracks that had to be repaired. Existing finishes were cleaned, removed and reapplied. Jesus' loin cloth was highlighted with gold leaf and the body of Christ was enhanced using a lighter finish than those of the Blessed Mother. The existing white statues of the Apostles were restored and refinished to match the new wood finishes in the reredos.
